Tom Taylor

Care Pastor

Tom joined the LOCC staff as full-time Care Pastor in February 2022. An accredited Bible counselor, Tom is a member of the Association of Christian Biblical Counselors and served on the development team for the Hope Denver Biblical Counseling Center. His ministry roles since becoming ordained in 1982 include 12 years pastoring a church in St. Augustine, Fla.; two years pastoring a church in Lakeland, Fla.; and a stint as a Christian educator teaching both computer and Bible classes to high school students.

As care pastor, Tom’s ministry focus includes the prayer ministry; overseeing ministry for the care center and developing additional outreaches; visiting those who are ill; and reaching out to those in the church who are shut-ins. In addition, Tom and his wife Pat serve as “The Grove Shepherds,” welcoming and ministering to the Live Oaks attendees who worship outdoors from their cars and golf carts each weekend.

Tom and Pat have been married since August 1971; they moved to The Villages in 2020 after nearly two decades living near their daughter in Colorado. Both thrive on having a ministerial focus. “My heart is shepherding people,” Tom says, pointing to Isaiah 46:4 as his theme verse: “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
