Pat Taylor

Grove Shepherd Team

Pat is a familiar face to many at LOCC, especially those who enjoy experiencing services outside in The Grove. Pat and husband Tom (LOCC’s Care Pastor) serve as Grove Shepherds, mingling with and encouraging attendees worshiping in their golf carts or cars. (She also oversees the Prayer Leadership Team and teaches Bible studies.)

Originally from New Jersey, Pat moved to Tampa when she was young. Working part-time in billing at a hospital while still in high school, she planned for a career in the F.B.I. But shortly before graduation, Pat’s sister-in-law set her up on a blind date, and just four months later, in August 1971, she and Tom wed.

A year afterwards, their daughter was born; a son followed three years later. In 1978, a cousin invited them to her church, and there, Pat says, “I heard the Gospel for the first time.” On their second visit, she gave her life to Christ. The Taylors’ faith grew through church involvement and Bible studies; both pursued college degrees – Pat earned a B.A. in Christian Education, while Tom became a pastor, serving two different churches in Florida. In 2002, the Taylors moved to Colorado to be near their daughter, taking jobs teaching at a Christian school.

In 2019, while visiting friends in The Villages, they felt God calling them back to Florida. In her free time, Pat says, “I like to golf, but I LOVE pickleball!” The Taylors have seven treasured grandchildren (one in heaven).
