Here you’ll find many different ministry opportunities through which you can share the love of Christ through serving.

Ways you can serve

The Care Center Ministry of LOCC serves as the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus to those living “on the edge of eternity.” In our community, the care center population is plentiful; care center residents, often the elderly, may be lonely, forgotten, unvisited, spiritually hungry, uncertain of their eternity, unable to attend church, ill, and dealing with myriad other issues. Care Center Ministry volunteers bring relationship, connection, emotional and spiritual support, God’s love, and their own love to these aging friends.

“Come to the Light” is LOCC’s annual outdoor Christmas light and sound experience. Held nightly at The Grove on our Woodridge Campus, this event has drawn up to 10,000 visitors throughout the first few weeks of December each year to enjoy the Christmas music we love and see the true story of the Nativity synchronized with a dazzling display of lights, sound, and special effects. The event is free and has become an eagerly anticipated Christmas tradition for friends, families, and neighbors near and far.

The Community Blessing Team seeks ways to bless the residents, workers, educators, law enforcement personnel, and others who live and work in and around The Villages. It’s about providing meals at the police station, painting doors at a school, making repairs on neighborhood homes, landscaping at the church, stocking shelves at the food pantry, and so much more. In short, it’s about being the hands and feet of Jesus for the communities we serve.

In 2021 LOCC’s Operation Christmas Child “Filler Factory” saw this labor of love’s 100,000th shoebox packed with gifts for children around the globe since LOCC began partnering with Operation Christmas Child in 2012. Annually, LOCC volunteers make toys and assemble fun and useful gifts for more than 20,000 shoeboxes to be delivered to “Special Access” countries, some of the darkest places in the world – and the hardest to penetrate with the gospel message of Christ. The children who receive these boxes not only experience great joy opening such an amazing gift box, but they also encounter the good news of Jesus.

LOCC has been a very active partner with Operation Christmas Child in the sending of thousands and thousands of shoeboxes to children since 2012.  A large volume of boxes come out of Filler Factory, and many others from individual donors and the “Village to Village” initiative.  LOCC is always striving to cover shipping for the Filler Factory boxes.  Please consider giving for the shipping as shown below:

Through Operation Christmas Child, Samaritan’s Purse is sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with millions of boys and girls in more than 100 countries each year. Many of these children have never before received a present or heard the true meaning of Christmas—until they open a gift-filled shoebox from a person like you. A requested donation of $10 per shoebox provides for collection, processing, and shipping, as well as Gospel materials for the child.

Another way you can make a difference is through the Build a Shoe Box on line program.    Send the Gospel to the Ends of the Earth Without Leaving Home

Shoebox gifts built online go to the ends of the earth to children in some of the hardest-to-reach places—whether deep jungles, city slums, steep mountainsides, or one of more than 1,000 remote Pacific islands. Many of these areas are resistant to the Gospel, for cultural or religious reasons, and are home to numerous unreached people groups, some of whom have never heard the Name of Jesus Christ.

It’s “lights, camera, action!” as LOCC’s Tech Team performs all the behind-the-scenes functions that result in smooth-running weekend worship services and other events. Volunteers operate cameras, run sound and lights, and fill the LED walls and TV monitors at either campus with the words, colors, and images that enhance worship and aid the teaching. The team also works tirelessly year-round to prepare for LOCC’s large-scale Christmas outreach “Come to the Light” and other special gatherings.

LOCC’s Worship Team comprises the vocal and instrumental ensembles who lead our worship in music during weekend services and other events at both our Woodridge and Southern Oaks Campuses.
