The Return of The King ep. 4: Smyrna: Faithful Unto Death
“We’re more likely to be faithful in persecution if we’re faithful before persecution.”
This past weekend we stepped into the message to the church in Smyrna and were reminded that following Jesus has always required courage. Jesus spoke tenderly to a suffering church, not promising escape from hardship but offering His steady presence and the assurance of eternal life. In a world where faith can be costly, we were encouraged to see that Jesus knows our pain, honors our faithfulness, and calls us to trust Him even when obedience comes at a price.
Key Takeaways
- Jesus sees and understands the suffering of His people, and His words meet us with compassion, not distance.
- Faithfulness is measured not by comfort or success, but by steadfast trust in Christ through every season.
- The promise of eternal life gives strength to endure present trials with hope and courage.
