Ecclesiastes ep.14: Small Choices

This past weekend’s message, “Small Choices” from Ecclesiastes 10:1, reminded us that even the tiniest decisions carry weight—especially when it comes to wisdom.

“Dead flies make a perfumer’s oil ferment and stink, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor.” (Ecclesiastes 10:1)

It’s a vivid picture, and Solomon doesn’t hold back: it only takes a little foolishness to cloud a reputation, derail a moment, or damage what took years to build.

Key Takeaways from the Message:
  • Little things matter. A quick word, a rash reaction, or a moment of carelessness can leave lasting marks.

  • Wisdom shows up in the small stuff. It’s not just about the big decisions—how we handle everyday choices reveals the posture of our heart.

  • Guard your influence. Honor is fragile. Living wisely and intentionally—even behind the scenes—is what preserves it.

Solomon’s point? Wisdom isn’t always loud or flashy, but it’s always powerful—and worth protecting.

Coming This Weekend: Living Generously

We’ll move into Ecclesiastes 11:1-6 with a message titled “Living Generously.” Solomon shifts the conversation toward open-handed living, encouraging us to give, sow, and invest—even when the outcomes are uncertain.

Send your bread on the surface of the water, for after many days you may find it… In the morning sow your seed, and at evening do not let your hand rest.” (Ecclesiastes 11:1,6)

In a world that often says “hold back,” Solomon calls us to live courageously and generously, trusting God with the results.

We’re looking forward to another powerful message as we continue growing in wisdom together!
