The Book of Daniel Ep. 12: The Rise and Fall of Empires

“To say that God is sovereign is to declare that He is the Almighty, the Possessor of all power in heaven and earth, so that none can defeat His counsels, thwart His purpose, or resist His will.”

Arthur W. Pink

In Daniel 11:1-20, we stepped into a whirlwind of prophecy filled with rulers, alliances, betrayals, and power plays. It read like a history book written in advance. And that’s exactly what it was.

God gave Daniel an incredibly detailed vision that predicted the rise and fall of kings and kingdoms long before they came to power. The accuracy is staggering, but the point wasn’t just political. It was theological.

Even when history looks chaotic, heaven is still in control.

Key Takeaways:

  • God doesn’t just know the future. He ordains it.

  • No amount of political power can outrun His sovereignty.

  • Faithfulness is possible even in the most unstable times.

The kingdoms of men will always rise and fall,  but the Kingdom of God stands forever.

Coming Up: “The Prototype of the Antichrist” (Daniel 11:21–35)

This weekend, we’ll meet a figure who stands out among the kings. A ruthless, deceptive ruler who exalts himself above God and persecutes the faithful. Though this passage describes a historical figure, it also serves as a shadow of one still to come: the Antichrist.

Come ready to dig deep into this prophetic portrait and to discover what it looks like to remain faithful, even when evil appears to win.
