Dan Rude
Elder
Dan was born and raised in a small farming community in western Wisconsin. Growing up in a Christian home, he and his two sisters were active both in church and in Youth for Christ (YFC). He accepted Christ at age nine at a YFC Rally, but says it was several years before he grew in his faith. After graduating from high school, he attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, graduating with a degree in Business Administration. During his last two years of college, he worked part-time for J.C. Penney (JCP), and then became a full-time employee after graduation – a job that required multiple moves over the course of his 38-year career there.
Dan and wife Helen grew up in the same town; attended the same church and youth group; and attended Luther College together. They married in 1963 and, as Dan says, are “best friends.” After they married, both rededicated their lives to Christ as Savior and Lord. They have hearts to share their faith “as the Holy Spirit leads, and to help others to do that, too.” Dan cites Revelation 2:10b as a favorite Bible verse: “Be ye faithful unto death and I will give you the crown of life.”
The Rudes have two sons, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
