Jerry Brown

Elder; Chairman

Jerry was born in Providence, R.I.; his father was a Baptist minister and mother, a social worker. When he was nine years old, the family moved to Westfield, N.J., where Jerry completed his secondary education. Upon graduation, he attended Morgan State University, earning a B.S. in mathematics; he also was commissioned a second lieutenant in the ROTC. After graduation, Jerry began his business career with Johnson & Johnson; he retired from Unilever after 31 years working in a variety of roles.

In September 1979, Jerry fully committed his life to Jesus Christ. Since then, he’s served on a missions board, taught Sunday School, and participated in Community Bible Studies; Bible Study Fellowship; Precepts Bible studies; and numerous Navigator programs.

Jerry and wife Glenna married in 1980 and have four children, 13 grandchildren, and a growing number of great-grands. Glenna is from Farrell, Pa., and is an avid Steelers fan. The Browns moved to The Villages in 2009, where Jerry has been active in One-to-One Discipleship; led a Community Bible Study; volunteered for a Leesburg High School mentoring program; served on the board of The African American Club of The Villages; and The Sophisticated Gents of Florida. At LOCC, he serves as an usher and chairs the Elder Board. He cites Proverbs 3:5-6, 16:7; and 2 Timothy 2:15 as his foundational verses for continuing growth in the study of God’s Word.
