Ecclesiastes ep.7: Wisdom That Outlasts Popularity

This past weekend, we jumped back into our Chasing the Wind series with the message “Wisdom that Outlasts Popularity” from Ecclesiastes 4:13-16. Solomon offers a sobering reminder that worldly success and influence are temporary, but true wisdom leaves a lasting impact:

“Better is a poor but wise youth than an old but foolish king who no longer pays attention to warnings.” (Ecclesiastes 4:13)

Key Takeaways from This Week’s Message:

Popularity is fleeting. The rise and fall of leaders, trends, and opinions prove that seeking human approval is like chasing the wind.

Wisdom is greater than status. The world values influence, but God values humility and a teachable heart.

A wise life is one lived for God. Rather than pursuing temporary recognition, we are called to seek wisdom that honors God and stands the test of time.

Up Next: Watch Your Words!

This weekend, we’ll continue in Ecclesiastes with “Words Matter” from Ecclesiastes 5:1-7. Solomon doesn’t hold back when it comes to how we use our words—especially in our relationship with God.

Are we careless with our commitments, making promises to God and others that we don’t keep? Do we speak more than we listen? Do our words reflect wisdom or foolishness?

This passage challenges us to take a deeper look at how we approach God and others with our speech, integrity, and follow-through. Spoiler alert: Solomon makes it clear that God takes our words seriously—and we should too.

We look forward to seeing you this weekend as we continue learning how to live wisely in a world full of empty words.
