Steve Ball
Elder
Steve Ball devoted 40 years to a career in education – as a teacher of English and Speech Communications at the middle and high school level; a K-12 principal for eight years; and later, as a high school principal for 20 years. A native of Whittier, California, Steve earned a B.A. in Speech Communications from Willamette University in Oregon and a Master’s in School Administration from Azusa Pacific University in his home state. “I gave my life to Jesus as a teen,” Steve recalls, “and have been active in church life at every church I’ve ever attended.” After moving to Tennessee in 1995 to be closer to family, Steve served on the board at his
church there, as well as in men’s ministries and as a youth group leader. He and his wife Brenda have been attending Live Oaks Community Church since 2017, where they are active in men’s and women’s ministries, respectively; are co-leaders for their Encore group; and currently oversee Communion prep at Southern Oaks. After visiting The Villages regularly during school breaks since 2017, the couple became full-time residents in 2021. Steve and Brenda were married in 2011; she has two sons, he has three, and together they share seven grandchildren. In 2023, during a trip to Israel, they were both baptized in the Jordan River, a rededication of their commitment to follow Christ in all they do.
